The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) carried out operations for removal of encroachments at four locations across the city on Tuesday and erected fencing to secure the sites.

The operations included protection of about 1,100 square yards of park land at two locations and restoration of Full Tank Level (FTL) areas of lakes covering about 12 acres at two other locations.

At Kondapur, officials stated that encroachers had filled the four-acre Jangam Kunta lake and levelled it for plotting and sale. Following media reports, HYDRAA conducted a joint inspection with Revenue officials and confirmed the land as that of the lake. Revenue authorities registered cases against those responsible, and HYDRAA fenced the lake area on Tuesday.

In Medchal–Malkajgiri district, HYDRAA removed encroachments over eight acres within the FTL limits of Kotha Cheruvu in Alwal mandal. Complaints received through the Prajavani grievance platform alleged that a plastic compression unit and plastic waste collection activities were operating from within the lake area, for which temporary sheds are erected and waste was being discharged into the water body. Officials conducted a field inspection, confirmed the encroachments, and removed the sheds and other structures erected within the FTL limits.

In Jakkidinagar Colony, Sahebnagar Kalan, in Vanasthalipuram, HYDRAA reclaimed 650 square yards earmarked as park land. The layout was developed in 1982 on over 12 acres with 161 plots, with the said land earmarked for park. Local residents complained that the site had been converted into plots and sold in 1985, with a compound wall and two sheds constructed inside. Following verification, HYDRAA removed the encroachments, fenced the site, and installed boards identifying it as park land.

In Kakatiya Nagar, Radhakrishna Housing Colony, under Malkajgiri Zone and Moula Ali Circle, HYDRAA reclaimed 450 square yards of park land that had been gifted to GHMC. A compound wall and shed constructed on the site were removed.
