Annamayya Police have arrested two persons who were transporting ganja concealed in a auto load of onions and seized 179 kilos of ganja worth ₹44.65 lakh. Police said four other involved in ganja peddling were yet to be nabbed.

Addressing a media conference here on Tuesday (February 10), Superintendent of Police Dheeraj Kunubilli said the Madanapalle Taluk police inspector K Kala Venkataramana and his staff conducted vehicle checking at Yerrakanimitta on the Madanapalle-Tirupati main road late Monday night. They stopped and checked an auto travelling without a registration number plate. They found sacks of onion in the auto but on thorough checking found nine bags stacked with ganja.

Police arrested the auto driver Avula Nagaraju and Avula Suguna, both hailing from Chandra Colony in Madanapalle and seized the auto and ganja. During questioning, police found that four more are involved in ganja peddling and they would be nabbed soon, the SP said.

Mr. Dheeraj Kunubilli said they have kept a vigil on those who are peddling ganja and making youth addicted to ganja. He warned of strict action against those who indulge in sale and transportation of ganja and asked the general public also to inform about any ganja consumption or sale to made the district a ganja-free one.
