Thousands of devotees thronged the temples in and around Tirupati to have ‘Uttara Dwara Darshan’ on the auspicious occasion of ‘Vaikuntha Ekadasi’ on Wednesday. As part of the 10-day festivities, the ‘Uttara Dwaram’ will be kept open in the temples up to January 8, through which the devotees will be allowed to pass.

Many devotees visited Govindaraja temple, Kodandarama temple, Alipiri Padalu (all in Tirupati), Padmavati Ammavari temple (Tiruchanur), Kalyana Venkateswara temple (Srinivasa Mangapuram), Prasanna Venkateswara temple (Appalayagunta), Vedanarayana temple (Nagalapuram), Kalyana Venkateswara temple (Narayanavanam), Kodandaramalayam (Vontimitta), Kariamanikya temple (Nagari), Vakula Matha temple (Peruru) on the occasion.

According to sources, the temples registered a higher than normal footfall on Tuesday, with Vontimitta witnessing more than 50,000 devotees and Srinivasa Mangapuram recording an attendance of 45,000 devotees. All the temples are decked up with unique floral decoration throughout the precincts by using exotic, as well as traditional flowers.
