The Musheerabad police arrested a rowdy sheeter for allegedly attempting to murder a 25-year-old delivery worker near Parsigutta on Sunday. The accused was identified as Kokku Stephen alias Kokku David Stephen, 23, a resident of Musheerabad. The complainant was identified as Surya Anil, 25, who sustained bleeding injuries to his neck and elbows in the attack. According to the police, the incident occurred at around 5.40 p.m. in Parsigutta, when Stephen allegedly attacked the complainant with a sharp-edged blade and later assaulted him with a wooden stick. The complainant managed to escape and approached the Musheerabad police, following which he was shifted to Gandhi Hospital for treatment. “Stephen and Surya knew each other for several years and that the attack was the result of a long-standing grudge. The animosity reportedly stemmed from an incident in March 2024 when a quarrel broke out at the accused’s house involving the complainant and the accused’s mother, leading to a case being registered at the time,” said an officer from the Musheerabad police, adding that Stephen bore a grudge against him since then. On February 8, the accused allegedly traced the complainant’s location through a common acquaintance under the pretext of settling the dispute and attacked him upon reaching the spot. The accused was later apprehended by the police.
