Guest lecturers staging a protest in Dindigul on Monday. | Photo Credit: G. KARTHIKEYAN Around 80 guest lecturers on Monday staged a sit-in protest in front of the M.V. Muthiah Government Arts College for Women in Dindigul demanding the fulfillment of their demands. Guest lecturers said UGC had made a recommendation that ₹57,800 should be paid to them. It should be implemented. Provident Fund benefits should be provided to all government college guest lecturers. Gratuity of ₹25 lakh should be provided to retired guest lecturers. Female guest lecturers should be granted paid maternity leave. The guest lecturers should be paid a salary for all the 12 months, they said. The guest teachers urged the authorities to fulfil their demands. They added that they will no longer participate in college related activities such as internal and external examinations, competitions, festivals, and government schemes till the demands are met.
