A 10-year-old boy died after allegedly falling from the roof of a plastic manufacturing unit in Katedan on Monday. An officer from the Mailardevpally police said that they received information about the incident at around 9 a.m. and rushed to the spot, where the child was found dead. The deceased was identified as Uppatala Hemanth, 10, a resident of Mancherial. Police said that the incident occurred at around 7 a.m. when the boy went out to play. “He reportedly climbed onto the roof of his house and then moved onto the adjacent plastic company’s corrugated sheet roof to fly a kite,” said the officer. While flying the kite, a fibre sheet installed on the roof to allow light reportedly broke, causing the boy to fall to the ground. “He sustained a severe head injury and died on the spot,” the officer added. Based on a complaint lodged by the boy’s father seeking an investigation into the death, a case was registered and further investigation is under way.
