Annual sports day

SPIC Nagar Higher Secondary School celebrated its 53rd annual Sports Day with great enthusiasm. Rahul V. Gopal, Assistant Superintendent of Police (trainee), Thoothukudi, attended the event as chief guest. S. Jayapal, international volleyball player and senior sports officer, TNEB, Thoothukudi, attended the event as guest of honour.

E. Balu, wholetime director, SPIC, T.S Premsundar, secretary, and other school staff were present. The annual report highlighted the school’s achievements.

The celebration continued with vibrant dance performances, including aerobics and folkdance. Track events for the students brought excitement and competitive spirit among students and the prize distribution ceremony honoured the winners and runners.

National seminar

The Department of Computer Application and Research Centre of Sarah Tucker College (autonomous), Tirunelveli, organised a national seminar on “Generative AI: Future of Digital Innovation.”

At the inaugural event, Felicia Gladys Sathiadevi, principal, emphasised the significance of AI in shaping future academics and industrial innovations. Jeba Ananth, founder and director, Bezohminds, Cloundality and Zeven Stones highlighted the transformative role of generative AI in driving digital transformation and entrepreneurship. The seminar features sessions on topics including “Generative AI in Healthcare: Transforming Modern Medicine,” and “Patents and Copyrights: What every researcher should know.”

Kerala Sasthra Puraskaram 2024

Tessy Thomas, vice-chancellor, Noorul Islam Centre for Higher Education’s (NICHE), Kumarakoil, has been honoured with Kerala Sasthra Puraskaram 2024. The award has been conferred in recognition of her outstanding contribution to science, technology and innovation. The event celebrated Ms. Thomas’s pioneering career in India’s defence and aerospace sectors, particularly her role in the agni missile programme, which significantly strengthened the nation’s strategic capabilities.

Reader’s fest

The reader’s fest, a State-level intercollegiate competition was organised by the Department of Library (aided) of G. Venkataswamy Naidu College (Autonomous), Kovilpatti. A total of 11 colleges participated in the event with 120 students representing various districts. P. Mahendran, secretary along with other staff of the college distributed shields and prizes to the winners. The overall trophy was won by Saiva Bhanu Kshatriya College, Aruppukottai.

Artifa Fest 2K26

Department of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science of National Engineering college, Kovilpatti organised the technical symposium “Artifa Fest 2K26.” S. Manikandan, alumnus of the college and team leader at Zoho Corporation, Tharuvai, attended the event as chief guest. He emphasised that students should gain expertise in at least one domain during their college years. Around 150 students from various departments of college participated and benefitted from the symposium.
