Ongole Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials nabbed the panchayat secretary-cum-development officer of K. Pallepalem village, while he was allegedly accepting ₹55,000 as bribe from a contractor. The accused, Jangala Sampath Kumar, is also the in-charge panchayat secretary of Kothapatnam-I in Prakasam district. The contractor filed a complaint with the ACB officials, alleging that Sampath Kumar had solicited a bribe of ₹55,000 in exchange for clearance of bills. The accused was caught while he was accepting the amount at his office in the village secretariat in Kothapatnam mandal on Monday. He would be produced in the ACB Special Court in Nellore, the investigating officers said.
