The Shree Sha Souharda Society organised a cleanliness drive at Someshwara beach on the outskirts of the city on Sunday.

All the staff and the board of directors of the society participated in the drive to collect plastic waste, glass bottles, and other kinds of waste from the beach.

The beach was made plastic-free for about 1 km stretch when the drive got completed.

The participants collected nearly 20 bags of waste during the drive. Speaking on the occasion, society president M.S. Gururaj said, “It is the primary duty of all of us to keep our environment clean. If there is cleanliness, there is the presence of God. Also, our health improves with environmental cleanliness. Plastic is a big threat to the environment. We are seeing marine and land animals consuming it and losing lives. May our society continue to do more such activities to create awareness in the society.”
