Idhayam Rajendran School organised the 14th Kids’ Utsav and its 27th Annual Day. Poornima Venkatesh, correspondent, Sitalakshmi Girls Higher Secondary School, and Chairperson, Indian Women Network (IWN), was the chief guest.

C. Vinodhan, Partner, MSPM Group of Firms, presided.

Students presented dances, skits and musical performances.

Department of B.Com., Fatima College, Madurai, with ACCA, UK jointly organised First International Conference on ‘Empowering Viksit Bharat 2047 – A Convergence of ACCA-Driven Global Competence, Indian Knowledge System and Ethical Excellence’.

A total of 250 participants from 57 educational institutions and organisations participated.

Speaking at the event, principal M. Fatima Mary emphasised the integration of the Indian Knowledge System with professional programmes like ACCA to equip students for global challenges with integrity and social responsibility.

Vasanth Jeyapaul, Chief Executive Officer, CAMSPay Computer Age Management Services Limited, explained about ethical digital finance, transparent systems, and globally aligned accounting practices as key drivers of sustainable growth.

Virbahadur Yadav, ACCA Member, Chief Executive Officer, Gravy Group, Singapore, highlighted the importance of blending the Indian Knowledge System with international practices to promote ethical decision-making and enhance global career opportunities through ACCA.

Prize distribution held. Winners of the Pitch Deck Competition were felicitated with cash awards. C. Vidhya and P. Thirushna from V. V. Vanniaperumal College for Women got the First prize of ₹5,000 cash. K. Kavitha and M. Karnika from The Gandhigram Rural Institute got second prize of ₹3,000, and U. Darsh Jain and K. Aarthy Kuwar from Thiagaraja College got third prize of ₹2,000.

Mangayarkarasi College of Arts and Science for Women, Madurai, hosted a Mega Job Fair in collaboration with Naandi Foundation to enhance students’ employability and provide them with job opportunities.

Secretary P. Ashokumar, Director A. Sakthi Pranesh, and Academic Dean Chendur Priyadarshini were special guests.

Over 700 final-year and alumnae students participated, and more than 200 received job offers. Over 300 are on the waiting list for the second round.

Participating companies included Cognizant, Procent, Hexaware, Itego, IDBI First Bank, Muthoot Finance, Apollo Pharmacy, Team Lease, HDFC Financial Services, TVS, We For You Solutions, Vertical Solutions and Captain Services.

Annual day

Devasakayam Matriculation Higher Secondary School celebrated its 43rd Annual Day.

Speaking at the event, chief guest, D. Gopi, associate professor, emphasised the importance of parental guidance and urged parents to closely monitor their children’s engagement with social media, as excessive usage can lead to addiction and aggressive behaviour towards parents.

The principal L. S. Ganesh highlighted the academic achievement and overall progress of the school during the year.

Thiagarajar College, PG Department of Commerce and Department of Business Administration jointly organised a one-day National Conference “COMVERSE’26” entitled ‘The Role of Knowledge Systems in Sustainable Business Practices and Global Competitiveness’

K. Hari Thiagarajan, Secretary, presided.

Speaking at the event, D. Ramakrishna Bandaru, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce and International Business, School of Business Studies, Central University of Kerala, insisted upon the present global business competitiveness challenging sustainable development.

Resource persons R. Rethinavelu, President, Agri and All Trade Chamber, Madurai, M. Suresh Kumar, Regional Manager, ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company Ltd., Madurai and Bharathish Rao, Dean, Mysore Educational and Welfare Association, chaired each session.

Nearly 238 papers from 55 colleges from various states.

Prizes were distributed by chief guest M. Jaikishan, Assistant General Manager, Bank of Baroda, Madurai.

Competition held

Students of TIPS Globeducate delivered an outstanding performance at the Robotica Champion League 2K26.

The students competed using a custom-built Bluetooth-controlled robot, specially designed to navigate the challenging Sojourner Manual Rover Game, which required teams to pilot their rovers through a fixed route on the arena floor.

Four teams won in this competition. School authorities appreciated the students’ achievement.

Skill development programme

A five-day Skill Development Programme on Video Editing was organised by the Department of Communication, Madurai Kamaraj University, for Government College students to enhance employability and practical media skills.

It provided hands-on training in professional video editing software Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve, covering editing workflows, transitions, audio integration, colour correction, titles, graphics, and basic AI-assisted techniques.

In response to the growing relevance of mobile-based content creation, students were also trained in mobile video editing using CapCut and VN applications.

The programme enabled participants to create short films, documentaries, and social media content.

Students from Meenakshi College, Vedasandur, Aundipatti and Melur Government Colleges participated.
