Members of the Joint Action Committee of the Associations for the Blind observed a one-day fast near the Tiruchi District Collectorate on Monday demanding better welfare benefits and employment opportunities. The association demanded government jobs for visually challenged persons as Government Order numbers 20 and 159 and an increase in the monthly assistance given to persons with disabilities from ₹1,500 to ₹5,000.
