Workshop held

Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of V. V. Vanniaperumal College for Women, Virudhunagar, in collaboration with Tamil Wikipedia – Google 2025, organised a faculty skill development workshop on ‘Adding Content to Tamil Wikipedia’.

A total of 52 faculty members from various disciplines participated in this session.

Speaking at the event, Principal S. Cinthana highlighted the significance of Tamil Wikipedia in providing valuable insights about digital knowledge sharing.

Resource persons explained the history and greatness of Tamil Wikipedia and its significant role in offering a vast array of articles on history, culture and science in Tamil language. They provided hands-on training on creating Wikipedia user accounts, editing existing articles, and adding new content in Tamil language.

Post-operative wards of Srivilliputtur Government Hospital have been provided with air conditioners and chairs as part of the Kalasalingam and Anandham Ammal Trust’s patient welfare initiatives.

Chief Medical Officer Dr. A. Kaliraj and District Medical and Health Officer Dr. K. Senthilkumar received air conditioners and chairs, and all hospital doctors expressed their gratitude to the trust.

Kalasalingam varsity Pro-Chancellor and Trustee S. Arivazagi, Vice-Presidents S. Shasi Anand and S. Arjun Kalasalingam were present.

Speaking at the event, Ramanathan Vairavan, chairman of Alagappa Group of Educational Institutions, stressed the importance of value-based education, integrity and social responsibility.

A.Hemamalini Ganesan, principal, highlighted the college’s academic progress and student achievements.

A total of 500 UG and PG students were awarded degrees, and 42 University rank holders were honoured.

A five-day skill-cum-technology upgradation programme on the cultivation and primary processing of economically important medicinal and aromatic plants under the CSIR AROMA Mission (Phase III) was organised by the CSIR-Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants, Research Centre, Bengaluru, at Ayya Nadar Janaki Ammal College, Sivakasi.

Experts and scientists from CSIR-CIMAP, Research Centre, Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Lucknow imparted the training and shared their expertise.

The programme covered cultivation, extraction, analysis, value addition, product development, and business opportunities in medicinal and aromatic crops.

Book released

At SSM Higher Educational Institutions for Research (SSM HEIR), students-authored book was released.

Speaking at the event, D. Senthil Kumaran, principal (SSMIET) and Secretary (SSMCAS), emphasised the value of creative writing and idea expression.

Books, titled ‘Life Beyond’ and ‘Kaalam’, were released by the chief guest, G. Baskaran, professor, GRI, Dindigul, and C.R. Ilangovan, writer and historian, Coimbatore.

Mr. Baskaran encouraged students to write more creatively, reminisced about Robert Browning and Francis Bacon, and discussed the value of writing.

A. M. Venkatachalam, Director of the Library at KSR Engineering College, shared the importance of reading and usage of library.

Postgraduate Department of English and the Nature Club of Sri S. Ramasamy Naidu Memorial College, Sattur. jointly organised seminar titled, ‘When Land Speaks: Literature, Farming, and Ecological Memories’.

Speaking at the event chief guest, Cho. Dharman, Sahitya Akademi award-winning writer and farmer, remarked that the Karisal soil and the lives of ordinary people have been the driving force behind his creative journey. He emphasised the need for developing ecological awareness and a deeper understanding of the land we inhabit.

P. Ashok, founder of Sattur Arivoli Bookshop, motivated students to develop a strong reading habit. Students from five colleges participated.

Graduation day

Thassim Beevi Abdul Kader College for Women, Kilakarai, organised its 34th Graduation Day ceremony.

Speaking at the event, Principal S. Sumaya highlighted the academic achievements and overall progress of the institution.

Chief guest Ramanthapuram Collector Simranjeet Singh Kahlon highlighted leadership qualities, empathy, and the value of working with passion, quoting the words of Winston Churchill to encourage service to the nation.

A total of 570 undergraduate and postgraduate students were awarded degrees. Proficiency students were honoured with silver medals.

The Department of Economics, GTN Arts College, Dindigul, organised a student panel discussion on Union Budget 2026.

During the discussion, M. Inbalakshmi, vice-principal, emphasised the role of young minds in understanding national economic priorities.

P. Ravichandran, Associate Professor, offered a comprehensive overview of the Union Budget 2026, linking its proposals with India’s long-term development roadmap and the ‘Viksit Bharat @ 2047’ vision. He encouraged students to critically analyse budgetary allocations from both growth and inclusiveness perspectives.

Student panellists Thatchini, Angel, Kowsalya, and Riyaz presented an in-depth analysis of the pros and cons of the Union Budget 2026, covering allocations and policy measures related to the primary, secondary, and tertiary sectors.

The discussion also focused on key areas such as agriculture, industry, services, education, health, employment generation, MSMEs, fiscal discipline, and social welfare initiatives.

It witnessed the participation of nearly 150 students.

Traning programme

Department of Biomedical Engineering of Syed Ammal Engineering College, Ramanathapuram, organised a two-day hands-on training programme on medical codes for all students, in association with KAV Biomedical Equipment Training and Education.

During the programme, S. Murugeswari, Head of the Department, highlighted the relevance of medical coding in the present healthcare ecosystem.

Principal M. Periyasamy stressed the growing importance of medical codes in hospitals, insurance processing, healthcare analytics, and clinical documentation. He pointed out that accurate medical coding plays a vital role in ensuring proper billing, compliance with healthcare regulations, and effective communication between healthcare providers, insurance companies, and regulatory bodies.

T. Jeyasri, Chief Training Officer of KAV Biomedical Equipment Training and Education, explained how medical codes such as ICD, CPT, and HCPCS are used to classify diseases, procedures, and healthcare services, thereby improving efficiency, transparency, and data-driven decision-making in the healthcare sector.

Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation’s ‘Naan Mudhalvan’ Team organised a Mega Job Fair’26 at Nadar Saraswathi College of Arts and Science, Theni.

It was hosted by NSCAS, along with ‘Nan Mudhalvan’ Team.

A total of 27 reputed organisations were gathered. The Total beneficiaries were 1219 students. Among them, 775 participants got the recruitment.

Secretary K. C. C. Maranmani congratulated the selected students.
