In connection with Friday’s murder of M. Dhanasekarapandian (35) near Silaiman, Madurai district police have arrested seven persons, including his wife Kaviya (27) and her paramour, K. Kuttipetchi (31) of Avaniyapuram.

The police said that the love affair between Kuttipetchi alias Petchimuthu and Kaviya that had started during her school days and that had continued even after she married Dhanasekarapandian.

The couple were fighting with each other for long.

However, a few months back, the woman, mother of two kids, had eloped with Kuttipetchi.

Family members from both sides had brought her back and left her with Dhanasekarapandian.

Meanwhile, the deceased had found that Kaviya had continued to talk with her lover over phone and this triggered another bout of fight between the couple.

Dhanasekarapandian had beaten her up and the woman had gone back to her father Samayan’s house in Avaniyapuram.

Her father had reportedly scolded and beat her up for her extra-marital affair. “The woman had told her paramour that she was facing wrath at both her husband’s house and in her father’s house and cried to him,” Superintendent of Police, B.K. Arvind said.

Consequently, Kuttipetchi had sent his friends to murder Dhanasekarapandian.

After following his movements for a few days, the assailants attacked him with lethal weapons when he came to open his tea stall at Samanatham early on Friday morning.

The Silaiman police are still on the lookout for one more absconding accused.
