Ramanathapuram district police arrested two individuals in connection with the hurling of petrol bombs at a conch shell shop in Rameswaram. Police said, Kumaran, a resident of the Rameswaram Railway Feeder area, operates a wholesale and retail conch shell business in the same locality. On Saturday night, after Kumaran had closed his shop and returned home, unidentified miscreants hurled petrol and kerosene bombs at the shop. As the petrol and kerosene bombs exploded, the front portion of the shop caught fire. While some people in the vicinity attempted to chase and catch the suspects, they managed to flee the scene. Local residents subsequently extinguished the fire. Following a complaint filed by the shop owner, Kumaran, at the Rameswaram Town Police Station, the police collected the CCTV footage from the area and conducted an investigation to identify the culprits. In this connection, the police arrested two men, identified as Parthiban and Govindaraj, both residents of Rameswaram Nethaji Nagar. The investigation revealed that they had hurled two petrol bombs and one kerosene bomb at the shop.
