A 40-year-old man sustained burns after firecrackers exploded in the storeroom of a cracker manufacturing unit near Papparapatti here on Sunday. The deceased was identified as Madesh, a native of Kumbakonam district, who works in the unit. According to the sources, Bharani (38), a resident of Kambainallur, runs a firecracker manufacturing unit at Alamarathukadu near Papparapatti. The crackers manufactured in the unit are stored in a room located 500 m away. On Sunday, Madesh was stocking the crackers in the room when they exploded. Madesh suffered 40% burns . On information, Fire and Rescue Service personnel rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire and admitted Madesh to Dharmapuri Medical College Hospital. District Superintendent of Police (SP) S. S. Maheswaran went to the spot and inquired. The Papparapatti police registered a case and are investigating.
