Rampant parking

The service road next to the bridge in APPTA market in Ozhuginasery is taking the shape of a parking lot. The vehicles coming to the commercial outlets, both permanent and temporary, functioning along the roadside are parked rampantly on the service road. Because of the obstruction caused by the overcrowding of vehicles on the above service road, the vehicles coming along four-way service road from Puthery could not enter into the service road to reach the four way to proceed to Therekalpudhur. Instead of entering the four way lane through the service road, all the vehicles including heavy vehicles are taking an abrupt turn at the main road causing disruption to vehicle flow and accidents. The concerned authorities are requested to take necessary measures to keep the service road intact for the proper use.

Laudable initiative

The launch of a Youtube channel by Tirunelveli District Police is a laudable initiative and must be appreciated. With increase in violence and crime, sexual abuse, stalking and wide use of drugs and alcohol, this channel will throw light on crimes and also create awareness of misuse of social media. This concept would bring transparency and information on crimes. Moreover, it can provide clarity into traffic regulations and cyber crimes. The model must be adopted by police in all districts.

Unsightly look

The flyover located near Srinivasa Nagar in Tirunelveli is an important identity for this city. Of late, it is noticed that all the piers located below this flyover are completely pasted with wallposters and notices, giving an unsightly look. These ridiculous activities of the public and party cadres are highly condemnable. It is noted that the highway authorities have done a wonderful job by clearing all waste posters and painting the piers six months ago, along with displaying warnings that actions will be taken against trespassers. But even after this, the public is not in position to obey this notification. In order to put an end to this matter, it is requested that the high court intervene in this matter by suo motu like in other cases and promulgate an order either by imposing heavy fines or even imprisonment to the trespassers.

The small empty space left along the road at the western corner of the Gandhi Market complex in Palayamkottai has been started using for dumping waste, which cataracts stray cattle and dogs. The presence of animals at the empty space hinders the free traffic movement on stretch, further causing accidents. The authorities concerned must take necessary action to address this issue.
