Mahasivaratri Brahmotsavams begin at Srisailam temple

Mahasivaratri Brahmotsavams commenced at the Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy temple at Srisailam in a grand manner on Sunday.

Special rituals marking the commencement of the festivities were performed as per Agama Sastras in the presence of Srisailam temple Trust Board chairman Pothugunta Ramesh Naidu and board members, Executive Officer M. Srinivasa Rao, Vedic pundits and priests. The rituals began with Yagasala Pravesam of the deities, followed by Ganapati Puja and Punyahavachanam.

Priests performed Chandeeswara Puja, Kumkuma Puja, Kanakana Dharana, Akhanda Sthapana, Rudra Kalasa Sthapana and other rituals in the morning.

The main ritual of the day, Dwajarohana, to invite the Gods and Goddesses for the Brahmotsavams, was performed in the evening.

Meanwhile, Mr. Ramesh Naidu and Mr. Srinivasa Rao said the temple management would present a free laddu as prasadam to every devotee visiting the temple for four days during the festivities. A laddu weighing 50 grams would be distributed to devotees from February 13 to 16.

The temple management has also started a free bus service for the convenience of devotees to visit local temples and places during the festivities. The buses will operate from Kailasa Dwaram to Srisailam and from Nandi Temple circle, covering Ganesh Sadan, Central Parking, Vibudhi Matam Junction, Mallamma Kanneru, Sivaji Spoorthi Kendram, Rudra Park, Siddarammappa Kolanu and Patala Ganga, before returning to Nandi Temple circle.
