The meeting was held with the Centre’s March 31 deadline for eliminating the Maoist insurgency from the country on the horizon. “Today, in Raipur, I held a review meeting with the Chhattisgarh government and officials on anti-Naxal operations. Security-centric strategy, infrastructure, attacks on Naxal financial networks, and surrender policy have yielded positive results, and Naxalism is being completely eradicated before March 31,” Mr. Shah wrote on X. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma, the Union Home Secretary, the Director of the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and the Special Secretary (Internal Security) in the Ministry of Home Affairs attended the meeting, a government official said. Directors General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Border Security Force (BSF), Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and National Investigation Agency (NIA) as well as Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Maharashtra, Jharkhand and Telangana, along with several senior officers, were also present, the official added. Future strategy Mr. Vijay Sharma said it could be the last major meeting before March 31. “I believe this will be the last major meeting before March 31, 2026, attended by Directors General of Police from all States, Additional Chief Secretaries of Home Affairs, the Union Home Minister, and Chief Ministers. This meeting will largely determine the strategy for how to proceed in the future,” he said before the meeting. Mr. Sai said the meeting held under the chairmanship of Mr. Shah was a strong indication of decisive progress against Naxalism. “The positive results of the double engine government’s precise security-focused strategy, robust infrastructure, strong attack on Naxal financial networks and effective surrender policy are clearly visible today in all the States affected by Naxalism, including Chhattisgarh,” he said.
