Field-level police personnel from the rank of Constable to Special Sub Inspector serving in Perambalur district are to undergo refresher training on various aspects connected with policing and to update them about the new criminal laws and the changes brought in them. The duration of the refresher training, to be held in batches, would be six weeks. Each batch would undergo training for six days. The programme for the first batch of 40 police personnel started on February 2 and ended on Saturday. The training for the second batch of another 40 personnel would commence on Monday. Every batch would comprise 40 police personnel during the six-week long exercise. Serving police officers in the ranks of Deputy Superintendent of Police and Additional Superintendent of Police in Perambalur district, retired police officers, Assistant Public Prosecutors, and doctors are handling the sessions. The ways of dealing with cases relating to minors and woman, counselling for the mentally ill and the ways of dealing with those addicted to liquor and narcotic substances besides those with suicidal tendencies form part of the refresher training.
