The Hulimavu police have booked two women for allegedly assaulting a cab driver under the influence of alcohol, in Hulimavu on Saturday.

The incident took place on the Devarachikkanahalli Main Road in the Hulimavu police station limits. The women have been identified as Lisa and Matthew, private firm employees and residents of J.P. Nagar and Koramangala areas.

According to the police, the women had visited a hotel, along with their friends, and were returning when their bike rammed a cab from behind.

When the cab driver, Ahmed, questioned them over the collision, the women reportedly abused him and attempted to flee from the spot on their vehicle. However, local residents intervened and stopped them.

The situation escalated when one of the women allegedly wrapped a chain around her hand and assaulted the cab driver. The women are also accused of verbally abusing Ahmed and making obscene gestures during the altercation.

The residents immediately alerted the police, following which a case was registered. The police have taken the two women into custody.

Further investigation is under way.
