Police interrogated a college student in connection with the alleged harassment of a Kerala-based actor, who was staying at a hotel in T. Nagar.

Police said the 26-year-old young actor from Kerala, hailing from Ernakulam, was staying at a hotel on Thomas Road in T. Nagar. While attempting to order food from her room, she found that the intercom telephone was not working. She then went directly to the hotel reception and lodged a complaint.

Following this, the hotel management sent a staff member to her room to fix the fault. The person who went to repair the intercom was a 20-year-old youth from Alandur. A college student, he had been working part-time at the hotel for the past six months.

After repairing the intercom phone, the student allegedly tried to hug the actor. Shocked, the actor warned him, but he reportedly continued to harass her. Frightened by his behaviour, the actor immediately informed the police.

Pondy Bazaar police rushed to the hotel and conducted an inquiry. The suspect was detained and taken to the police station for questioning.

During interrogation, the student denied the allegations against him. He stated that he had only repaired the intercom phone, took the food order, and then left the room.

Subsequently, police questioned the actor, during which she stated that she did not wish to give a written complaint or pursue legal action against the person who had harassed her.

However, the police obtained a written undertaking from the student, warning him not to engage in such acts in the future and instructing him to appear whenever called for inquiry, before letting him go.
