A cab driver was arrested for dragging a traffic policeman for a short distance while attempting to evade a drunken driving check on 200-feet Road in Kolathur. The incident took place during routine vehicle checks conducted by traffic police using breath analysers. When traffic constable Vasudevan signaled a speeding car to stop, the driver allegedly rolled up the window, trapping the constable’s hand, and drove off, dragging him briefly. Bystanders intervened and stopped the vehicle, after which the driver abandoned the car and fled. Based on a complaint lodged by constable Vasudevan, the Rajamangalam police registered a case and launched a manhunt. Police later traced and arrested the accused, identified as Praveen Kumar of Thiruvottiyur, using CCTV footage from the area.
