Revanth safeguarding KCR in corruption cases: Kishan Reddy

Union Minister and BJP State president G. Kishan Reddy questioned the inaction against former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao in the alleged Kaleshwaram project irregularities, despite repeated assurances by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.

Responding to a series of accusations against him by the Chief Minister, at a press conference here, he wondered why he was being blamed when the Congress was in power with all the powers to take action against Mr. Chandrashekar Rao. He sought clarity on whether the Congress high command was blocking action.

Mr. Kishan Reddy said that despite completing over two years in office and facing multiple elections, the Congress government has failed to deliver on its assurances, including the much-publicised six guarantees and hundreds of sub-promises made before the 2023 Assembly polls.

He accused the Chief Minister of deliberately avoiding discussion on the status of the promises and resorting to diversionary politics to conceal administrative failures, corruption and internal conflicts within the Cabinet over projects and contracts.

Terming religion-based reservations unconstitutional, the Union Minister alleged that Congress has made appeasement of AIMIM a political strategy before every election. He said the proposal for permanent 4% Muslim reservation was purely vote-bank politics and recalled that similar attempts were struck down by the High Court in the past.

The Union Minister remarked that both Congress and BRS lacked the courage to govern independently, alleging that AIMIM continued to wield decisive influence irrespective of which party was in power.

Raising alarm over the fire accident at the State Forensic Science Laboratory, he demanded an official statement from the government on the safety of crucial digital and forensic evidence related to several high-profile cases.
