Hakkigagi, a Kannada movie directed by Garghee Karehaklu from Shivamogga, has won the Network for the Promotion of Asia Pacific Cinema (NETPAC) Jury Award at the 17th Bengaluru International Film Festival, which concluded on February 6.

The award carries ₹50,000 each for the director, Mr. Karehaklu, and producer, H.S. Harish, the founders of Pari Movie Makers.

The movie, which focuses on nature conservation, was shot in parts of the Hosanagara and Sagar taluks of Shivamogga district. The film crew comprises actors and technicians from Shivamogga. The cast includes Sanvi, Padmashree Harekoppa, Nagaraj Neel, Sindhu, Vaidyanath, Ganapathi Hegde, Reukappa, Shivamogga Surendra Rao, Kumar Sara, Manjunath Byanad, Chinmayi M. Byanad, Sri Ram Surya, Avanish, Samrudha, Samarth, and others. Senior journalist and writer Nagesh Hegde has played a prominent role in the movie. Yadu Nandan composed the music, Pradeep Aryan handled cinematography, and Samson J. Simon was the editor.

Minister for Health and Family Welfare Dinesh Gundu Rao presented the awards at the valedictory ceremony of the festival in Bengaluru.
