Chandrababu Naidu announced the constitution of a one-man committee to inquire into the alleged adulteration of ghee in the preparation of Tirumala laddu prasadam so that it would give him a favourable report. “The CBI has clearly mentioned in its charge-sheet that no animal fat has been used to make the laddus. The Chief Minister is unhappy that the SIT report is not as he wished,” Mr. Satyanarayana said while addressing the media along with former Minister Jogi Ramesh after visiting the latter’s house, which had recently been attacked by miscreants. Mr. Satyanarayana said the government was itself instigating the attacks and the YSRCP would utilise all legal avenues to fight against them. He said that Mr. Naidu had dragged the Lord into politics by alleging that the ghee was adulterated. Mr. Satyanarayana questioned why the police remained silent spectators when petrol bombs and acid bottles were being hurled at Mr. Ramesh’s residence, and sought an explanation from the BJP and Jana Sena Party for the attacks. The Chief Minister should earn people’s respect through good governance instead of resorting to physical attacks, he said, adding that violence had no place in a democracy.
