Paradeep Phosphates Limited has restored name of erstwhile Mangalore Chemicals and Fertilisers Limited on the name boards in front of the unit in Mangaluru.

MLC Ivan D’souza, on Saturday, thanked the management of Paradeep Phosphates Limited (PPL) for restoring name of Mangalore Chemicals and Fertilisers (MCF) on the name board displayed in front of its factory in Mangaluru.

Talking to reporters in Mangaluru, Mr. D’souza said he had recently seconded the demand made by former employees of the MCF and had asked the management of PPL to restore erstwhile name on the name boards displayed outside the unit.

The management has responded and changed the name boards. Mentioning PPL in bold letters, the name board has erstwhile MCF in Kannada and English. “I thank the management for timely response, though the name of MCF is found in small letters,” Mr. D’Souza said.

The MCF was run by the Government for a long time before it was taken over by private entities. It was only PPL that removed the name of MCF, which amounted to disregarding Mangaloreans, who were closely associated with this unit. Many Mangaloreans have given their lands for this unit, and the Government has provided basic amenities for the unit. Companies taking over units of Mangaluru should not change the main name of the units, he said.
