The Central Kerala leg of the Left Democratic Front’s (LDF) Vikasana Munnetta Jadha, led by Kerala Congress (M) chairman Jose K. Mani, will tour Ernakulam district from February 10 to 14, covering all 14 Assembly constituencies.

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, CPI(M) district secretary S. Satish said the jadha aims to highlight the development achievements of the LDF government over the past decade and underscore the need for a relentless fight against both majority and minority communalism to safeguard Kerala’s secular fabric.

The LDF district committee will receive the jadha from its Idukki counterparts at Paingottoor, along the eastern border of Ernakulam, on the evening of February 10. The jadha will resume the next day with Mr. Mani and other members interacting with people from all walks of life, followed by a press conference—a pattern that will be followed throughout its district tour.

On February 11, receptions will be held at Muvattupuzha, Piravom, Kunnathunadu, and Perumbavur Assembly constituencies. The jadha will remain suspended on February 12 in solidarity with the nationwide general strike called by a joint platform of ten Central Trade Unions (CTUs), Mr. Satish said. The strike is against the implementation of the four new Labour Codes, amendments to MGNREGA and the Insurance Act, as well as changes to civil nuclear liability and nuclear energy laws.

On February 13, receptions will be organised at Angamaly, Aluva, North Paravur, and Vypeen Assembly constituencies. The final day, February 14, will see receptions at Kochi, Tripunithura, and Kalamassery constituencies. The Thrikkakara and Ernakulam Assembly committees will jointly host a reception at the Kaloor Stadium ground, followed by a public meeting marking the conclusion of the jadha in the district, to be attended by Ministers, Mr. Satish added.

LDF convener George Edapparuthy, CPI district secretary N. Arun, and Kerala Congress (M) district president Tomy Joseph also attended the press conference.
