KRISHNAMOORTHY Tamil Nadu’s voters are not going to be carried away this time by the false promises made by the DMK, said Tamil Maanila Congress (Moopanar) president G.K. Vasan in Madurai on Saturday (February 7, 2026). Speaking to the media, he said that in 2021, the DMK came to power by deceiving the people of the State, but voters have understood the party’s game plan and will be vigilant this time. “Many are fed up. They are disappointed by the DMK’s poor performance. There has been an overall degradation in all the departments, especially the Police Department,” he alleged. Tamil Nadu’s lost sheen will be restored by the new government to be headed by the AIADMK, he said, and added that the objective of the parties in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is to unseat the corrupt DMK from power. “There is absolutely no confusion among the partners,” he said. The NDA in Tamil Nadu is led by AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami, he emphasised, and hoped that the seat-sharing talks among the various leaders would be smooth and hassle-free. He further said his party would ask for more seats than what was sought the previous time. Mr. Vasan said the rollout of new schemes by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin at the fag end of his term was nothing but a reflection of “his fear of losing power.” “Corruption has reached an all-time high and the flow of narcotics is not being checked at all. The Police Department has become so weak that the DMK government is unable to even post a DGP (Head of Police Force),” Mr. Vasan charged. The TMC leader presided over the party’s consultative meeting on Saturday, in which presidents from the southern districts participated. The party is set to organise similar meetings in Coimbatore on February 14, in Chennai on February 17, and in Tiruchi on February 19.
