Two employees of software firm arrested for swindling off ₹29 lakh

Two employees of a private software company in Anna Nagar have been arrested on the charge of misappropriation of around ₹29 lakh from the company.

The arrested have been identified as Suresh, 40, of Ayanambakkam, and Alex, 25, of Thiruverkadu in Avadi.

The police said Jayakumar, 43, a resident of Padiyanallur, runs a software company on Anna Nagar 3rd Avenue. On November 25 last year, while the CCTV cameras at the company were being repaired, it was found that Suresh, along with a woman, had disabled the CCTV system.

Further examination of the company’s accounts revealed that Suresh, Alex, and four others, misappropriated ₹29 lakh due to the company. Three laptops and two mobile phones were also stolen from the office.

Based on a complaint lodged by Jayakumar, the police registered a case and arrested the accused. Efforts are under way to trace the other suspects, the police said.
