Boban Thomas, medical oncologist, has been awarded a prestigious scholarship by the Multinational Association of Supportive Care in Cancer (MASCC), the world’s largest organisation dedicated to supportive care in cancer.

The scholarship carries a cash award of ₹1 lakh and a citation

The scholarship was awarded for a study led by Dr. Thomas which found that 49.82% of cancer patients experienced severe emotional distress and social isolation during the course of their treatment.

Dr. Thomas will present the study at the annual conference of the Multinational Association of Supportive Care in Cancer (MASCC), scheduled to be held in Melbourne, Australia, from June 25 to 27, 2026.
