The Ernakulam Rural police on Friday (February 6, 2026) checked 478 vehicles used to transport schoolchildren in a special drive aimed at detecting traffic rule violations that could compromise students’ safety. The police inspected 138 vehicles in the Aluva subdivision, followed by 93 in Munambam and 90 in Muvattupuzha.

While 81 vehicles were inspected in the Puthencruz subdivision, 76 were checked in Perumbavoor. A special team, divided into different groups, conducted the inspection from early morning. The drive was conducted based on instructions from Arul R.B. Krishna, Deputy Inspector General, Ernakulam Range.

“No serious violations were found during the inspections. The purpose of the drive was mainly to keep drivers alert,” a police source said.
