The Palluruthy police have arrested two brothers for allegedly supplying drugs to a minor boy and stealing a gold ornament from him. The arrested are Alphin Antony, 24, and Renphin Antony, 21, of Mankamadom Lane, Palluruthy.

According to the police, the accused used to supply drugs to the 16-year-old boy and blackmail him by threatening to inform his parents of his drug use. They also threatened to post visuals of the boy using drugs on social media.

The accused allegedly persuaded the boy to steal gold from his house and hand it over to them. Panicked, the boy is said to have taken his mother’s gold anklet, weighing around 12 gm, and handed it to the accused.

The police said the accused later sold the anklet. A probe was launched based on a complaint filed by the parents of the minor boy. The investigation is being led by Inspector Kiran C. Nair.
