Working president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) K.T. Rama Rao has cautioned the party ranks against falling into the trap of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s abuses (using foul language against BRS leaders) and focus on the failures of the Congress government and its betrayal of people with poll promises.

In a message to the party ranks in the midst of campaigning for the municipal elections on Friday, he asked the party activists, workers and leaders to take the Congress’ failures and betrayal into the people effectively to garner support for the party (BRS).

A political game of distortion was going on in Telangana, with the Chief Minister himself spitting venom on BRS founder and former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao just to divert people’s attention from the failures of the government. It was not just an attack on an individual but on the history of the movement for statehood for Telangana.

He alleged that Mr. Revanth Reddy was diverting the debate on basic needs and infrastructure in towns and instead focusing on abuses. Further, he asked the party leaders to expose Mr. Revanth Reddy’s betrayal on river water share and his ‘covert’ act to give away Telangana’s rightful waters to a neighbouring State, on power purchase and overburden (coal) tenders scams and others and pushing back Telangana from the track of development in just two years.

He also targeted the Bharatiya Janata Party, remarking that voting for the BJP was equivalent to wasting one’s vote and likening it to throwing a ballot into a drain. He accused the party of surfacing only during election seasons and exploiting caste and religious sentiments to secure votes before disappearing from public view. He alleged that Union Minister Bandi Sanjay had failed to secure any tangible benefits for the erstwhile Karimnagar district or for Telangana as a whole.
