Deputy Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar on Friday sought to put the ball in the court of the Congress high command with respect to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s son and MLC Yathindra’s statement that the high command had sent a clear signal that there will be no leadership change in Karnataka.

Speaking to mediapersons in Mangaluru, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the Congress high command will have to react to such a statement. “I will not react. Whatever reaction will have to be given by Delhi authorities,” he said when asked about Mr. Yathindra’s remarks that his father will complete the full term and MLA Basavaraju’s statement that clarification is needed on the power sharing pact.

The president of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) was replying to questions by presspersons at Mangaluru International Airport.

Ridiculing Mr. Yathindra, the Deputy Chief Minister remarked in a sarcastic manner that: “He is our high command. I will accept whatever he says with respect. When he has made a statement as if he is the high command, let us accept him as the high command.”

It may be noted that Mr. Yathindra had kicked up the dust over leadership issue during the winter session of the State Legislature in Belagavi in December 2025 by maintaining that his father will complete the full term.
