Police have detained 4 stone-laden lorries with their drivers as they were carrying fake passes. When the police at Puliyarai check-post on Tenkasi district – Kerala border on Thursday night scanned the passes produced by the drivers of 4 heavy trucks carrying stones from Virudhunagar district to Kerala, they were found to be fake. As the police informed Superintendent of Police G.S. Madhavan in the night itself about the fake passes, he asked the police to detain all four drivers and the stone-laden lorries. “The lorries had carried the stones from the quarry in Melur Duraisamypuram in Rajapalayam taluk in Virudhunagar district, which is being reportedly operated by a ruling party functionary. Investigations are on to verify if the fake passes were handed over to the driver by the quarry operator himself or the transporter,” said a police officer privy to the probe.
