Iron Mountain senior Oskar Kangas, son of Jodi and Jason Kangas, has committed to play basketball at Division III University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. He plans to study information systems. Kangas served as captain of the IMHS varsity team all four years of high school. He was a three-time Player of the Year in the West-PAC and Mid-Peninsula conferences, a two-time U.P. Player of the Year in Division 1-3, and a three-time All-State first team selection. He was also named first team all-state by the Detroit Free Press. During his high school career he had a total of 1,974 points. Jayne plans to study sports management and education. He was named an all-conference linebacker his junior and senior years, as well as being named Mr. U.P. Football. He has been named to the U.P. Dream Team as a running back and is a three-time all-state running back. Jayne said he “would just like to thank all — my brother, Max, my coaches throughout my high school career and teammates — for helping me become the player I am now today and also the young man and person I have become as well.
