A newly developed dormitory and retiring room facility has been commissioned on Platform No. 1 at Vizianagaram railway station and entrusted to the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation for a period of nine years. The initiative is aimed at ensuring professional management, improved service quality and an enhanced overall experience for railway passengers. Divisional Railway Manager Lalit Bohra said that the IRCTC-managed dormitory and retiring room facility at Vizianagaram station has been designed exclusively for bona fide railway passengers. Only passengers holding a confirmed PNR are eligible to avail of the facility. Bookings can be made online through the IRCTC website, ensuring transparency, ease of access and digital convenience. To meet the varied requirements of passengers, three categories of accommodation have been provided with flexible and affordable tariff options. Rail users can avail of suite rooms, deluxe double-bed AC rooms and dormitory accommodation for durations ranging from three to 48 hours. While the retiring room is operated by IRCTC, catering and hospitality services are being provided by the licensee, M/s Good Food Catering Services. The facility is expected to benefit passengers in transit, those facing long waiting periods, senior citizens and families travelling with children. The commissioning of the IRCTC-managed dormitory and retiring room facility marks a significant step towards improving passenger comfort and amenities at Vizianagaram railway station.
