Kerala Forest department officials have arrested three persons for allegedly engaging in illegal hunting using a gun and ammunition at the Bheemanadi-Manchuchal area in Kasaragod. The arrests were made during an inspection carried out by officials of the Bheemanadi forest section on Thursday evening. The arrested were identified as Ramakrishnan, Ratheesh and Rajesh. Preliminary findings indicated that the accused had illegally hunted a wild boar in violation of the Wildlife Protection Act. Wild boar meat was recovered from their possession. A gun and the ammunition used for hunting were seized from the accused. The Forest department also took into custody the pick-up vehicle used by the group.
