DMK president and Chief Minister M.K. Stalin is set to address the party’s youth-wing functionaries from 10 southern districts at the South Zone Youth Wing Conference to be held at Kalkurichi in Virudhunagar district on Saturday (February 7, 2026).

Speaking to reporters here on Friday (February 6), DMK Virudhunagar North district secretary and State Finance Minister Thangam Thennarasu said that the meeting will be significant, as it is being held just before the State Assembly election.

“It would lay a strong platform to bring about closer coordination among the youth-wing functionaries in taking the party’s ideologies to the people,” he said.

One lakh youth wing functionaries will participate in the meeting, he added.

Besides the secretary of youth wing, Udhayanidhi Stalin, senior party leaders, including general secretary M. Duraimurugan, T.R. Baalu, and K.N. Nehru, would participate in the event.

Mr. Thennarasu said that all the standard operating procedures recently notified by the State government for ensuring safety at public meetings would be scrupulously followed at the youth-wing conference.

Besides hundreds of volunteers, the venue would have adequate parking facilities, drinking water, toilets, ambulance, fire tenders, and medical aid.

‘AIADMK manifesto a copy’

When asked about the AIADMK’s election manifesto being released in phases, Mr. Thennarasu said that the party’s poll promises had been copied from the welfare schemes already being implemented by the DMK government.

“AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami, who had been claiming that the Mahalir Urimai Thogai could not be implemented by the DMK government, has now made a contradictory statement [of increasing the monthly assistance to ₹2,000]. The AIADMK can only make poll promises. We [the DMK] implement them,” he said.
