Kiran Kumar, said that national development is possible only when scientific progress is combined with inner reflection, ethics, and a strong sense of responsibility. Exploration, he said, should not be limited to the external world alone but must also include introspection and moral awareness. He was speaking after inaugurating the International Conference on “Current Innovations in Chemical and Applied Sciences”, organised by the Department of Chemistry, Bangalore University, in collaboration with PM-USHA, the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), and the American Chemical Society (ACS). Mr. Kumar urged students to look at the world from a fresh perspective and nurture curiosity. He noted that human progress has always begun with observation, exploration, and analysis. Every concept developed by humankind, he said, is rooted in nature, and careful scientific observation and analysis form the foundation of success. Delivering the inaugural address, Vice-Chairman of the Karnataka State Higher Education Council (KSHEC), S.R. Niranjana, said that inter- and multidisciplinary education is not a new concept in India. Ancient centres of learning such as Nalanda and Takshashila had already adopted integrated systems of education centuries ago. He stressed the need for a skill-oriented education system built on strong core subjects.
