The Telangana High Court set aside a single judge’s verdict that had cancelled the general ranking list of Group-1 posts and ordered re-evaluation or reconduct of the mains examination conducted by the Telangana Public Service Commission (TGPSC), thus removing all the obstacles for the continuation of the appointed officers. The Division Bench rejected the single bench order and allowed the appeals filed by the selected candidates for their continuation in the long-pending recruitment process for 563 Group-1 posts in the State. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy described the judgement as a “victory of justice.” In a statement, he said that despite repeated attempts and alleged conspiracies to stall government recruitments, the State had succeeded in the legal battle. Congratulating the 563 successful candidates, the Chief Minister noted that they would be the first batch of Group-1 officers to be appointed after the formation of Telangana. He called upon the selected candidates to dedicate themselves to rebuilding and strengthening the State now. The TGPSC had conducted the Group-1 mains exams from October 21 to 27, 2024, to fill 563 vacancies. Of the 31,383 candidates who applied, around 30,000 had appeared for the examination. The results were announced in March 2025. It was pushed into legal battle after some aspirants approached the High Court alleging discrepancies in the evaluation of answer scripts. On September 9, 2025, a single judge of the High Court had ordered re-evaluation of the answer scripts or reconduct if revaluation was not feasible.
