About 1.2 lakh people have applied to convert B-Khata plots into A-Khata under the new scheme rolled out by the State government, Deputy Chief Minister and Bengaluru Development Minister D.K. Shivakumar said on Thursday.

From November 1, 2025, the State government opened a 100-day window for such conversions on payment of a fee equal to 5% of the property’s guidance value. During this period, 1.2 lakh applications were received, of which 86% have been disposed of, while 18,000 applications are pending, according to Mr. Shivakumar.

“We have rejected 46,000 applications, and the rest have been approved. The rejected applications will be reviewed again, and the reasons will be assessed,” he said. “We have approved 300 applications that did not have sketches. In the absence of sketches, we have asked for manual verification,” he added.

In addition, Mr. Shivakumar said that 9.34 lakh e-Khata applications have been received, of which 9.31 lakh have been cleared. He noted that a new rule has been introduced mandating that applications be processed within two days and a decision taken within that period. Further, a 100-member team has been set up to review applications where there are issues with khata.
