Minister for Industries and Commerce T.G. Bharath said that steps are being taken to develop parks in the city to increase green cover and to provide spaces for rejuvenation.

Mr. Bharath, along with Kurnool Municipal Corporation (KMC) Commissioner P. Viswanatha, on Thursday (February 05, 2026) laid foundation for development of six parks in various parts of the city at a cost of ₹1.05 crore. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that they have commenced works on development of six parks as part of making Kurnool a Smart City and assured to complete the works within two months.

He said that the maintenance of parks was ignored during 2019-2024 by the YSR Congress Party government. He said that his father, former minister T.G. Venkatesh, had developed parks by identifying and allocating suitable lands in various colonies in the city. However, the MLAs, who won from Kurnool city after his father’s tenure, did not focus on developing parks.

Mr. Bharath said that they will develop more parks in the city in future and provide walking tracks and gyms. He said plantation of trees will be taken up on a largescale to enhance greenery in the city.

Earlier in the day, Mr. Bharath took part in the oath taking ceremony of the newly constituted TDP Kurnool Parliamentary Committee in the party office where he asserted that the TDP alone will provide a secure political future for party workers and leaders committed to public service. He made it clear that party gives due recognition to the leaders and activists who work sincerely for the party.

On the occasion, Gudise Krishnamma was sworn in as Kurnool district unit president, P. Nagaraju Yadav as general secretary, and Somisetty Srikanth as vice-president, along with other office bearers.
