The Madhapur police has registered a case against actor Chandrahas following a complaint lodged by a senior journalist over a threat issued on social media.

The case relates to an incident linked to the pre-release event of Chandrahas’ upcoming film where the actor allegedly sang a song on stage during the event that contained obscene and inappropriate lyrics, drawing criticism from sections of the media and the public.

Ashok Kumar, a journalist with a vernacular news channel, later posted a video on his social media account criticising the use of objectionable language at public events. In the video, he reportedly stated that such conduct was unacceptable, particularly on a public forum and in the presence of audiences of all ages.

The complaint alleges that Chandrahas subsequently responded by posting a video on his Instagram account in which he threatened the journalist for speaking out against the incident. Taking note of the complaint, Madhapur police registered a case against the actor under relevant sections of law.

Police officials said an investigation is underway to verify the allegations.
