Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy handing over a cheque for ₹110 crore to the members of women SHGs at a public meeting held at Gumlapur in Karimnagar district on Thursday. Launching a dual attack on the BRS and the BJP, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy accused the two parties of having a secret pact for the municipal elections on the lines of that ‘forged’ by them during the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. The BJP leaders are receiving ‘protection money’ from the tainted BRS leaders to shield them from various scams committed by the latter during the BRS’s 10-year-rule, he charged. These two parties share a Fevicol-like bond, Mr. Reddy alleged, daring the Union Ministers G. Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay to ensure the arrest of the then BRS rulers ‘involved’ in the ‘Kaleshwaram project scam’ and the Formula-E car race case. He was addressing a public meeting at Gumlapur in the poll-bound Choppadandi on Thursday. Earlier in the day, he laid the foundation stone for the ₹45.15 crore Advanced Technology Centre, Ramadugu. The Chief Minister said, “The BJP-led Central government meted out a raw deal to Telangana in the Union Budget by neglecting the ambitious projects – Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase-II expansion, the Musi River rejuvenation project, and the Regional Ring Road.” He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself acknowledged corruption in Kaleshwaram project by saying it became an ATM for ‘KCR’s family’. “The BJP leaders are ‘hand-in-glove’ with the BRS leaders. This is evident from the way they are trying to save the BRS leaders involved in the Kaleshwaram scam,” he charged. The BJP leaders should seek votes only after ensuring the arrest of those involved in Kaleshwaram and other scams, he added. He said, “The previous BRS rulers ruined Telangana pushing the State into a debt of ₹8.11 lakh crore. Having played havoc with the State, the BRS leaders are now trying to obstruct Telangana’s development by spearheading a false propaganda against the Congress government jealous of its pathbreaking welfare schemes.” He said the Congress government had spent ₹17,442 crore for the development of 116 municipalities and seven corporations in the last two years. An amount of ₹2,778 crore had been released for the 15 urban local bodies in the combined Karimnagar district. He appealed to the electors to vote for the Congress in the February 11 civic polls, saying it will herald accelerated development of the urban local bodies. Karimnagar and Warangal cities would be developed as ‘twin cities’ by implementing a master plan encompassing ORRs and other development initiatives fostering connectivity, he added. Ministers D. Sridhar Babu, Tummala Nageswara Rao, Ponnam Prabhakar and A Laxman Kumar also spoke.
