The Villupuram West Police seized 200 kg of banned gutkha and tobacco products, that were being smuggled in a car and arrested two persons on Wednesday night. Following a tip-off on the smuggling of banned tobacco products, a team was conducting vehicle checks on the Gingee Road when they intercepted a car. On checking the vehicle, the police allegedly found two persons transporting banned gutkha products in gunny bags. The police arrested the duo — Harshan Kumar, 26, and Sabeer Khan, 29, of Rajasthan — and seized 200 kg of gutkha products from their possession. The police said that the duo had smuggled gutkha products from other States for supplying and selling in Villupuram district. A case has been registered.
