Nearly a year after former Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh resigned on February 9, 2025, the Centre has formally ended President’s Rule in the state, paving the way for the return of an elected government. President Droupadi Murmu revoked the proclamation on February 4, 2026, enabling BJP leader Yumnam Khemchand Singh to be sworn in as the 13th Chief Minister of Manipur.

Khemchand Singh, a two‑time legislator and former Speaker, took the oath of office at Lok Bhavan in Imphal. His appointment follows the BJP Legislature Party’s decision to elect him as their leader after months of political vacuum under central rule.
