A tiger, which reportedly crossed the river Godavari from the Papikonda National Park (PNP), has reportedly attacked three cattle near Torredu in Rajamahendravaram rural in East Godavari district in the early hours of Sunday (February 01). On January 29, the same tiger was last sighted moving into the PNP via Buttayagudem mandal in Eluru district.

Rajahmundry Chief Conservator of Forest B.N.N. Murthy told The Hindu on Sunday: “The tiger has attacked the cattle near Torredu. The Forest department personnel have been deployed to monitor the movements of the tiger.”

When contacted, the farmers of Torredu have confirmed the attack by the tiger, the pug marks of which were recorded by them. Located on the banks of river Godavari, Torredu is a village is an agrarian pocket and the cattle owners keep their cattle on the islands.
