Rear Admiral Upal Kundu, VSM, has taken over as the Flag Officer Commanding Tamil Nadu and Puducherry Naval Area (FOTNA) on Saturday. In a ceremonial parade held at INS Adyar, he took over from Rear Admiral Satish Shenai NM who is superannuating after four decades of service, according to a press release. As FOTNA, Rear Admiral Upal Kundu will oversee naval operations and administration of all units and establishments in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. One of the five Area Commanders of the Indian Navy, the FOTNA plays a crucial role in ensuring the security and stability of the region, the release said. Rear Admiral Upal Kundu has a huge experience and has served in different capacities in the Indian Navy.
