Two autorickshaw drivers were killed and three others injured after a lorry rammed into their vehicle on the Chennai – Bengaluru National Highway near Sriperumbudur in the Kancheepuram district on Friday night. Police said the accident occurred when the autorickshaw, carrying five men, attempted to cross the highway from the wrong side. The deceased were identified as J. Dhanasekar, 23, of Sriperumbudur, and R. Dhanapal, 47, of Tiruvallur district. The injured were rushed to a hospital. Police said the lorry driver fled the spot after the accident. A case has been registered, and a search is on to trace the driver, who is on the run.
